Adopt through TNR La Pêche in 6 steps
We are here to help every step along the way!
Step 1 - You are interested in adopting a cat
Visit PetFinder to see what cats and kittens are currently available.
Step 2 - Fill out the online form
Apply online to let us know which cat has stolen your heart and a little about yourself.
Step 3 - Our team will contact you within a few days
Wait for an email from one of our volunteers to connect you with the cat’s foster family so you can schedule a visit.
Step 4 - Meet the cat
Meet the cat in their foster family’s home to see if you have a connection.
Note : we do not allow for same-day adoptions.
The cat will be reserved for you until 5pm the next day (e.g., if you visit on a Monday, the cat is reserved until Tuesday at 5pm). After that, we cannot guarantee the cat will still be available to adopt.
Step 5 - Officially adopt!
Email us to let us know you wish to officially adopt.
Our volunteers will process your request, normally within 48 hours.
You will then receive an email with the adoption agreement and link to pay the adoption fee.
Once we have confirmed receipt of both, we will let you and the foster know that everything is finalized.
Step 6 - Pick-up your new cat!
Once confirmed, you can arrange a pick-up time that works for you and the foster family.
Congratulations!
Adoption Questions
-
All of our cats are housed with volunteer foster families. Out of respect for these families and to protect their privacy, we complete the application process before inviting anyone to visit their homes. However, it is not necessary to submit a separate application for each cat. If you don’t feel a connection with the first cat you meet, we are committed to helping you find a companion that is the perfect fit.
-
Our cats live in foster homes, not a physical shelter, and the fosters do not handle adoptions directly. After meeting a cat in their foster home, email us to confirm your interest in adopting. We’ll then send the adoption agreement and payment link. Once everything is confirmed, pick-up will be scheduled. Because we are entirely volunteer-run, the process can take a little time, but we will keep you updated at every step.
-
The adoption fee varies:
$295 for a kitten
$550 for two kittens
$275 for an adult cat
$500 for two adult cats
A discounted fee may be offered for humanitarian adoptions.
This fee helps us cover essential veterinary care, including health exams by our trusted veterinarians, deworming treatments, vaccines (FVRCP and rabies), sterilization, and microchipping.

As a general practice, we give priority to the first person who contacts us, not the first person who submits an application. However, if that person does not submit their application within 24 hours, we will move forward with the other person, as long as their application is approved. We also focus on finding the best match for each cat, so factors like compatibility (for example, if a cat does not get along with dogs) may affect the order of visits.
